In Eros Engine™, every action — from a flirtatious glance to a daring seduction — is resolved through a simple roll. But behind that roll lies one of the system’s most elegant mechanics: Attribute Modifiers.

These small numbers carry big narrative weight. They describe how naturally gifted, practiced, or challenged your character is in a given area. When you roll the dice, your modifier tells the story of your strengths and vulnerabilities.

The Core Formula

At the heart of every roll is:

d20 + Attribute Modifier + Skill Rank ± Other Modifiers

That single number captures your character’s natural ability (the Attribute), learned expertise (the Skill), and the moment’s context (bonuses, penalties, or Position effects).

The Modifier Scale

To make this crystal clear, the Eros Engine™ Core Rulebook v1.1 (coming soon) will now include a dedicated Attribute Modifier Table. Here’s how it works:

This same table applies across all six core Attributes — Charm (CHA), Appearance (APP), Sensitivity (SEN), Stamina (STA), Arousal Control (ARC), and Willpower (WIL) — keeping play smooth and consistent.

Why It Matters

Modifiers define the feel of the roll.
A +2 in Charm doesn’t just mean you succeed more often — it means your character glides through social moments with practiced ease.
A –1 in Arousal Control means you’re constantly balancing excitement with composure. These aren’t just numbers; they’re shorthand for personality.

Looking Ahead

The upcoming rulebook revision (v1.1) will feature a fully formatted Attribute Modifier Table in Chapter 3 and the Quick Reference section. This makes character creation smoother, gameplay faster, and the math perfectly transparent.

Until then, you can already use the scale above in your sessions — and feel how much story can live inside a +2 or a –1.

Eros Engine™ is designed to make emotional and physical tension as playable as combat or magic in other RPGs. The Attribute Modifiers are your pulse — the rhythm that drives every daring move and delicate touch at the table.
